International Women's Year (IWY) conference, 1977
An estimated 20,000 women convened in Houston to assemble a plan of action to promote
gender equality. Major points of the plan included the Equal Rights Amendment, reproductive
rights, sexual orientation, child care funding, and the rights of aging, minority, and disabled
women.
