Billie Jean King at the International Women's Year (IWY) conference, 1977
The 1977 International Women's Year conference (IWY) was held in Houston. The torch for
the opening ceremony was kindled in Seneca Falls, New York and relayed to Houston by
over 3,000 runners. Tennis champion Billie Jean King carried the torch to its final destination.
