__CompList The Watch List is a master list of all the stocks and mutual funds you want to analyze with Investor Insight. To capture price information and news stories about a company, add the security to the Watch List. You also use the securities on the Watch List to create charts, reports, portfolios, and custom indexes. __PortList The Portfolios window lists your investment holdings or "shadow" holdings (stocks and/or mutual funds you don't own but want to track). Each portfolio has a dollar value and includes information on the number of shares purchased, the purchase price per share, as well as any accounting transaction data. __News The News window lists stories (by date and headline) on public companies in the Watch List. Investor Insight captures stories, along with quotations and other stock information, each time you make an online connection. __Notes The Notes window lists your personal notes relating to a stock, mutual fund, or General category, organizing them by date. __PriceVol A price-volume chart plots the price of a single stock or mutual fund and its trading volume over any time period. __SimplePfolio A simple portfolio, for investors who trade infrequently and want to set up quickly, is a collection of stocks and/or mutual funds you define that you want to analyze as a group. It includes information on the number of shares purchased, the purchase price per share, and provides an easy way to analyze market trends. __AdvancedPfolio An advanced portfolio, similar to a brokerage account, is for serious investors who want detailed performance calculations. It contains transactions you enter related to a collection of stocks and/or mutual funds that you want to analyze as a group. It calculates true portfolio value on any given day and performance figures (internal rate of return and time-weighted return) for any period. __IndexChart An index chart plots the high, low, and closing values for each date in the chart's time period for either the Dow Jones Industrial Average index or the Standard && Poor's 500 index. __Browser The Browse window displays information on the price-volume chart hot spots, including news stories, splits, notes, company reports, and trades (transactions you entered in an advanced portfolio). __MemList This window lists the windows you've memorized (saved and named) so you can display them again at any time. __ChartOverview Price-volume overview charts are miniature price-volume charts of the stocks and mutual funds in the Watch List. You can show the change in point or percent since the close of the last trade day, or how the volume on the current day compares to the average volume for the last 13 weeks. You can arrange the miniature charts alphabetically or numerically. __Inbox The Inbox lists e-mail messages and company reports you've received from Investor Insight. __Outbox The Outbox lists e-mail messages or orders for company reports you're sending to Investor Insight. To see messages you've sent in the past, select "Show Old Items." __PfolioReport A value report shows the total value of a portfolio, unrealized gain or loss in dollars and/or percent, and cash amount for a given day. __PerformReport A performance report (for advanced and Quicken portfolios only) shows your return on investment for one portfolio or combined portfolios for a set time period, and lets you compare portfolio performance with market indexes. __LotReport A lot report (for advanced and Quicken portfolios only) lists all lots for a security on any single date. It calculates the blended average annual return, based on the combined performance of all transactions for that stock or mutual fund in the history of the portfolio. __CompanyReport A company report (which uses data from Standard && Poor's) includes investment and financial data for a specific company. The information is arranged in sections and displayed either in text or table format. You can display many of the tables in chart form, and there are a variety of options for choosing subsets of the data for easy analysis. __FlashReport A flash report provides the best overview of trading activity since your last online session. It includes performance information on market indicators, portfolios, custom indexes, and the most volatile stocks and/or mutual funds in the Watch List. Click the arrows to jump to related information. __CompSnapshot A company snapshot includes a price-volume chart and recent news stories for each company included in the report. Specify the time period for the report and select the stocks and/or mutual funds to display in price-volume charts. Choose whether to include a list of news story headlines, full news stories (with headlines), or both for the companies included. Deselect both headlines and stories to include price-volume charts only. The company snapshot is designed to be printed rather than viewed onscreen. __PersonalReport The personal report is a personalized newsletter-style report covering your investments. It pulls together summary tables, charts, news stories, and computer-generated summary articles to give you an overview of your investments. The personal report is designed to be printed rather than viewed onscreen. __CurrentPrices A current prices report shows the current prices for the securities on the Watch List as of your most recent download. It also shows the change in value of specific stocks and mutual funds between any two dates. You can arrange stocks and mutual funds alphabetically or by current price, point change, percent change, or volume. __HistoricalPrices A historical prices report displays the high, low, and closing prices and the volume traded of a specific stock or mutual fund for each day in the specified time period. __HoldingsChart A holdings chart shows how a portfolio's value is distributed among the stocks and mutual funds it contains on a specific date. __PortValueChart A portfolio value chart shows the total dollar value of a portfolio for each date in any time period. __RelValueChart A relative value chart shows the current value of each stock or mutual fund in the portfolio, sorted in descending order. The height of each bar represents the current value; the black line represents the cost. The black line is above the bar for unrealized losses, and within the bar for unrealized gains. __PortVsIndexChart A portfolio vs. Dow Jones Industrial Average chart compares the performance of a portfolio with the Dow Jones Industrial Average for each date in any time period. __PerChangeChart A percent change chart shows the percent change in price (both positive and negative) of each stock, mutual fund, or index in the chart's scope within any time period. __AbVolumeChart An abnormal volume chart shows how the trading volume of each stock or mutual fund compared to its normal trading volume over the past quarter. If a stock has a value of 100%, the stock's volume for that day was normal. __BurstChart A burst chart compares the change in value (expressed in percent) of each stock, mutual fund, or index in the chart's scope over any time period, based on a common starting point (100%). __Timer Choose how often you want to automatically call Investor Insight to capture data. Specify when Investor Insight should place the call, and whether or not to automatically print the latest news and a personal report after capturing data. __Price-Volume Options Choose which elements to include in the chart: a line for the Dow Jones Industrial Average or S&&P 500, a curve of averaged prices for a 50-day or 200-day interval (or no curve), an upper and/or lower price limit line (type a price value in the High and/or Low boxes), hot spots for accessing news, splits, notes, company reports, and/or trades, or vertical hi-lo lines that show the high and low prices for each day in the chart, and a hatch mark for the closing price for each day in the chart. __Index Chart Options Choose hi-lo lines if you want to include vertical lines that show the high and low prices for each day in the chart, and a hatch mark for the closing price for each day in the chart. __Overview Chart Options Show the change in point or percent since the close of the last trade day, or how the volume on the current day compares to the average volume for the last 13 weeks. The number appears in the upper right corner of each miniature chart. Sort the miniature charts alphabetically or numerically in order of the greatest point, percent, or volume change. __Choose Scope Select the securities to include on the chart. __Choose Scope and Index Select the securities to include on the chart. Select one or more market indexes, portfolios, or custom indexes to include them as separate lines on the chart. __Period Choose a custom time period for a chart or report by specifying a start date (From) and an end date (To). The chart or report only includes information for the dates you specify. __Company Preview Company preview charts show five years of weekly closing prices and volume (through August 31, 1995) for the selected stock. You can plot the values by price or percent change. To add the stock to the Watch List (so you can get updated quotes and news), click Add to Watch List. __Download Choose how much news to download. (Investor Insight always captures price information.) Click Full to download news for all the securities on the Watch List; click Quotes Only to capture no news, or click Custom, and then click Customize to download news for just the companies you select. __Protect Startup You can require a password when you start Investor Insight to protect your investment information. Check the box to require a password. Investor Insight uses the same password you entered when you signed up. __Corrections If you're having trouble downloading, you may need to delete your account information or quotes. If you delete quotes, the next time you make an online connection, Investor Insight captures updated price information. If you delete your account information, the next time you make an online connection, you can correct the information. __Build Indexes Investor Insight provides a compressed list (database) of securities you can select from to build the Watch List. Click Build Indexes to expand the database on your hard drive. This may take a few minutes, but you only need to do it once. If you don't want to expand the database now, you can use Search to add a security to the Watch List. __Enter Password You've set up Investor Insight to require a password when you start the program. Enter the password. __Promotion Keyword Removed. __Enter User Name And Password You've already signed up for Investor Insight, but you deleted your user name and password. Enter your user name and password, using the same name and password you entered when you first signed up. __User Registration To download up-to-date price information and news from Investor Insight, you must set up an account. Enter the requested information in the User Registration window, and click Register Now. __Order Company Report For a small fee, you can order a company report that includes investment and financial data, analyst ratings, industry comparisons, and information on key competitors for the company you select. When you order a company report, Investor Insight places the order in your Outbox and sends it the next time you make an online connection. __Create Portfolio Enter a portfolio name, and choose whether to create a simple portfolio based on the number of shares and the purchase price per share, or an advanced portfolio that tracks accounting transactions (similar to a brokerage account). __Add Securities to Watch List Select the security you want to add to the Watch List. (You can select by name or by symbol.) Investor Insight captures price information and news stories for securities on the Watch List when you make an online connection. __Rename Portfolio Enter a new portfolio name. __Advanced Portfolio Report Select the portfolio you want from the drop-down list, and then choose the type of report to display. __Current Prices Options Select the type of data to display in the report, and then specify how to sort the stocks and/or mutual funds. __Write E-Mail To Customer Service Enter a subject and message to send to Customer Service. To attach a file, click Add and select a file. Investor Insight sends the message the next time you make an online connection. __Choose Export File Type Select the file type for the exported file. __Highlight Keywords Choose what to highlight in news stories--the company name and/or up to three keywords you specify. To jump to highlighted words in the News window, click the Scan button. __Enter Note Change the default reference date of the note, if necessary, and then enter the note title and the note text. __Add to Portfolio Select the stock or mutual fund to add to the portfolio. __Value Report Options Select the type of data to display in the report, and then specify how to sort the stocks and/or mutual funds. __Performance Report Scope Select the advanced portfolios and market indexes to include in the report. __Performance Report Options Select the type of data to display in the report. __Enter Holdings Enter the number of shares you own or want to track and the purchase price per share. __Advanced Portfolio : Initial Cash Enter the initial cash amount for the advanced portfolio as of the end of the day for the portfolio's start date. __Advanced Portfolio : Start Date Enter the starting date for the advanced portfolio. __Change Start Date and Cash Change the starting date or the initial cash amount for the advanced portfolio. __Buy Shares Select a stock or mutual fund from the Security drop-down list and enter the date of the transaction. Enter the number of shares purchased, the price per share, and the commission. Investor Insight calculates the total cost. __Sell Select a stock or mutual fund from the Security drop-down list and enter the date of the transaction. Enter the number of shares sold, the price per share, and the commission. Investor Insight calculates the total proceeds. From the lots list, select the lot to sell from. __Contribution Set the date of the transaction and enter the amount of the contribution. Add an optional comment. __Withdrawal Set the date of the transaction and enter the amount of the withdrawal. Add an optional comment. __Adjust Cash Set the date of the transaction and enter the amount of the new cash balance. Choose the type of cash adjustment. Add an optional comment. __Income Select a stock or mutual fund from the Security drop-down list, or choose General if the portfolio income is not related to a specific security. Set the date of the transaction and enter the amount of the income. Choose the income type and enter an optional comment. __Split To enter historical splits, select a stock or mutual fund from the Security drop-down list and set the date of the transaction. Enter the ratio of the split and add an optional comment. (Investor Insight automatically downloads new split transactions for securities in the Watch List.) __Company Snapshots Choose the securities to display in price-volume charts in the personal report. Choose whether to include a list of news story headlines, full news stories (with headlines), or both for the specified companies. Deselect both headlines and stories to include price-volume charts only. __Flash Report Options Specify whether or not to display the flash report after capturing data. Select the type of data to display in the report, and then enter minimum percent change values to determine how much data to display in the report. __Choose Index Choose whether to display the Dow Jones Industrial Average index or the Standard && Poor's 500 index. __Portfolio Chart Select a portfolio from the drop-down list, and then click the chart type you want to display. __Comparative Chart Choose the type of comparative chart to display. __Company Reports To display a company report, select the company and click View. To delete a company report, select the company and click Delete. To order a company report, click Order. __Memorize Window Enter a name for the active window to save it (and its settings) so you can retrieve it later. __Edit Custom Index Enter a new name for the custom index, if necessary, and change its contents by selecting or deselecting stocks and/or mutual funds from the list. __Custom Indexes A custom index, like a personalized market index, lets you define a collection of stocks and mutual funds with a relative value rather than an explicit value. It assumes equal dollar weightings of holdings, recalculated on a daily basis, rather than weightings you define. __Delete Stories Choose whether to delete all news stories, or stories older than a specified date for the selected stock. __Compress Database Compress the disk space used for storing price information and news stories on your hard disk. This procedure frees up space for new data and maximizes program efficiency. __Archive Management The Archive Management window lists each stock and mutual fund that is or was in the Watch List, along with the amount of disk space Investor Insight uses to store its price information and news stories. __Delete Quotes If you have trouble downloading data, you may need to delete stock quotes. The next time you make an online connection, Investor Insight captures updated quotes. __Set Up Modem - Intuit Online Services Investor Insight automatically sets up your modem when you first sign up, but you can change the setup at any time. You can change the port your modem is connected to and the modem speed (baud rate). You can specify a dialing prefix (such as "9") if one is required to make a call, and whether your phone is pulse or tone. Click Autoconfigure to restore your modem's settings. (You should also run Autoconfigure if you install a new modem.) __TaxReport A tax report (for advanced and Quicken portfolios only) shows the tax implications for a portfolio or combined portfolios for a specified time period. __Choose Scope Select the stocks and/or mutual funds to include as miniature charts on the price-volume overview chart. __Copy Text You can copy any news story to the Windows Clipboard so you can use it with other applications. To copy only part of the story, select the text. __Scope of Table Select the stocks and/or mutual funds to include in the report. __Custom Download Customize the download to capture news stories for just the companies you select. (Investor Insight always captures price information.) __EasySteps Use Easy Steps to learn how to get started with Investor Insight. Click the Next and Back buttons to go through the steps. __Changed Watch List When you add a stock or mutual fund to the Watch List, Investor Insight captures price information and news stories for it (and the other securities on the Watch List) the next time you make an online connection. Click Call Now to capture data now, or click Call Later. __Backup To Choose the drive and directory to back up to. __Advanced Modem Setup Investor Insight sets up advanced modem settings automatically. You can change the settings if necessary. To restore the settings to their original values, click Autoconfigure in the Set Up Modem window. __Missing or Invalid Symbols The Quicken account includes securities with missing or invalid ticker symbols. Investor Insight still creates a portfolio, but converts the transactions differently. __QuickenPortfolio A Quicken portfolio is designed for investors who are already tracking their investments in Quicken. Like a brokerage account, it contains transactions related to a collection of stocks and/or mutual funds. It's similar to an advanced portfolio, except you can't rename it or add, edit, or delete transactions. __Scope of Personal Report Select the stocks and/or mutual funds to include in the personal report. __Get Quicken Accounts Specify which Quicken investment account(s) to import. Investor Insight creates a Quicken portfolio for each selected account. __Tax Report Scope Choose which portfolios to include in the tax report. __Ordered Company Report Investor Insight will send your order the next time you make an online connection. Click Call Now to make an online connection. Investor Insight includes sample securities, so you can look at charts and news pertaining to these securities immediately. Add the securities you're interested in tracking to the Watch List. To use the Watch List, click the Watch icon on the iconbar. __fs_flashReport The flash report is a concise presentation of all that's changed since the last time you captured news and quotes. It tells you the movement of major market indicators, individual securities in your Watch List, and your portfolios. It also tracks changes in volume. To see a flash report, click the Flash icon on the iconbar. __fs_readNews The News window is your home base for reading news about a company. To read news, click the News icon on the iconbar. Select a company from the list in the upper left of the window to display a list of headlines for that company only. Investor Insight sorts articles by date and marks the headlines with icons to indicate the type of article. Click a headline to display the story. Double-click a headline to jump to the price-volume chart. Investor Insight highlights the article's date on the chart. __fs_priceVol The price-volume chart lets you examine performance of a company over time. You can display a price-volume chart several ways. Click Chart in the Watch List window or double-click a headline in the News window to display the chart for the selected company. For now, click the Price-Vol icon on the iconbar. The price-volume overview chart appears, displaying miniature charts for all the securities in the Watch List. Double-click the miniature chart you're interested in to see the price-volume chart. __fs_comprev The company preview chart is a quick way to see the historical price and volume trends for a company. Investor Insight provides five years of data (through August 31, 1995) for S&P 500 stocks. To display a company preview chart, click the Preview icon on the iconbar, and select a company. You can plot the values by price or percent change. To get updated quotes and news for the stock, click Add to Watch List. __fs_otherCharts Comparative charts present comparisons between individual companies. Portfolio charts graphically display portfolio data. Index charts plot the Dow Jones Industrial Average or the Standard & Poor's 500 index. Take a look at the three comparative charts. Click the Compare icon on the iconbar, and then click the icon for the type of chart you want to display. __fs_portfolios Simple portfolios, designed for investors who trade infrequently and want to set up quickly, let you specify shares and the purchase price per share for a group of companies. Advanced portfolios, for serious investors who want detailed performance calculations, include all the accounting transactions of a brokerage account. Advanced portfolios calculate true portfolio value on any given day and performance figures for any time period. Quicken portfolios, for investors who are already tracking investments in Quicken, let you import data, including transactions, from a Quicken investment account to an Investor Insight portfolio. To work with portfolios, click the Portfolio icon on the iconbar. To import information from a Quicken investment account, choose Get Quicken Investments from the File menu. __fs_chooseComps The Watch List contains some sample securities. Customize the Watch List by adding securities you're interested in tracking. To add a security, click Add in the Watch List window. Choose whether to search by company name or company symbol. Enter the name of the security you're interested in (the list scrolls as you type), and then click Add. As you're working with Investor Insight, the cursor changes when it's on a hot spot. Double-click hot spots (or click special icons) on charts, reports, news headlines, names of stocks and mutual funds, and elsewhere to jump to related or underlying information. _Watch List Use the Watch List to enter the ticker symbols for the stocks and mutual funds you're interested in tracking. If you don't know the symbol, you can select it from a full list of over 16,000 securities. Investor Insight automatically updates this list of 16,000 securities each time you make an online connection to bring in new IPOs and handle delistings and name changes. The Watch List controls what information you gather whenever you make an online connection. _Price-Volume Chart The price-volume chart displays the price history of a stock over any time period you want. Click the chart's hot spots to read news stories, view your purchase and sale transactions in a portfolio, review personal notes, and check on company reports. The underlying relationship between news and price changes is at your fingertips. You can overlay a Dow Jones Industrial Average or Standard && Poor's 500 index, a 50-day or 200-day moving average, or your own high and low limit lines (which are useful for making buy/sell decisions). _News Window Display the News window to read all the news stories for the securities in the Watch List. News stories are available from Dow Jones News Service®, which includes articles and special features from The Wall Street Journal. Press releases are available from PR Newswire and Business Wire. You can read stories by the date they were captured or by the company they refer to. Double-click a story headline to jump to the company's price-volume chart and see what effect the story had on the company's stock price. Investor Insight stores the news stories on your hard drive, so you can keep them as long as you want. You can print, copy, or export news stories, or delete them at any time. _Other Charts You can create up to 11 different types of charts. Most charts provide options for changing the scope of the chart, the time period, what elements are displayed on the chart, and how they're displayed. Use comparative charts to compare the stock prices of any number of companies with each other, with major market indexes, or with custom indexes you create yourself. Use portfolio charts to see portfolio value over time, gain and loss on holdings, and allocations of holdings. Many charts have hot spots for jumping to other charts, so you can easily QuickZoom to related information. You can memorize any chart window with all its settings and retrieve it any time. _Portfolios Simple portfolios are for investors who don't trade frequently and want to set up quickly. A simple portfolio calculates the value and the gain and loss of a group of securities. Advanced portfolios are for serious investors who want detailed performance calculations. They measure time-based performance, take into account the cash flows in and out of your portfolio, track securities by lot and time of purchase, and generate tax reports for you at year end. You can calculate the internal rate of return over any time period you choose, while adjusting for cash flows. This lets you compare your true performance to any external index or measure. Investor Insight calculates performance in compliance with AIMR standards. Quicken portfolios are for investors who are already tracking investments in a Quicken investment account.
